We are honoured to have been the event planners for the spectacular wedding of Josephine and Giorgos, held in Ithaca on Saturday 28th August 2021.

Josephine contacted us earlier in the year and we began working closely with her on the look and feel she envisioned for her big day. With the inspiration she brought to the table, along with local suppliers and our hands-on approach, we were able to bring it all together to create the perfect wedding day for this special couple.

The wedding was a relaxed, quintessential island-style wedding, embracing all the natural beauty of the island and allowing simplicity and elegance to play the lead role in this story. 

The wedding ceremony was held at the iconic Lazaretto, located in the bay of Vathi. The transportation was done by Mana Korina, in which the boat was beautifully decorated with lanterns and ribbons – starting the day off with a special kind of romance and traditional greek wedding music.

The church was simply styled, where mini olive trees lined the entrance leading to the church. Lazaretto provided the idyllic setting for this intimate ceremony as it is completely private and one is surrounded by windswept pine trees with Vathi port as a backdrop. 

Guests were transported by mini bus shuttle to the reception which was held at Kirki at Filiatro. This venue comfortably accommodated the 120 guests with allocated spaces for welcome drinks and canapes, DJ and band area, cocktail bar stand and buffet station. 

Guests were seated at allocated tables which were elegantly styled with a soft ivory rose and olive wreath centerpiece and a bomboniere at each plate setting. Each guest received a glass ‘mati’ token with almond chocolate koufeta in a hessian bag. This token gift perfectly complemented the feel and nature of the wedding and created the final touch to the table decor.

To kick off the celebrations and evening ahead, the couple enjoyed their first dance and cutting of the cake which was then served later in the evening after the meal. 

The food was set out in buffet style where an array of traditional greek dishes was available. The coordination of logistics and order of events was managed by ourselves, from the morning right through until the evening celebrations.

The party officially started when the music began to play. A complimentary mix of modern day tunes by DJ Dimo and Ithaki’s traditional band created the festive atmosphere. The two parties worked closely together, offering the guests non stop entertainment and every reason to dance the night away.

We, at MV Properties are glad to say that after months of meticulous planning and preparation, the entire wedding from beginning to end was a success. The day was filled with love, laughter and sheer happiness from both the bride and groom, their families and friends who had travelled to witness this union on the beautiful island of Ithaca. 

We feel honoured to have been a part of this memorable day and would like to wish Josephine and Giorgos a long and happy marriage.
